Rating: 5/5 stars
I have a love/hate relationship with endings that take me by surprise. Being wrong feels terrible, but when it’s well-executed, the way it was in this particular book, it’s a wonderful and welcomed surprise.
The twist alone took what was going to be a four-star read and turned it into a five-star read. This is my first book by Alison Gaylin, so I had no expectations going in. I was drawn in by the cover, as usual, and that tag line!
“By the time you read this… I’ll be dead.”
I mean, come on! Who wouldn’t want to read a book with that on the cover?
Reviewing mysteries is never an easy task. I’m terrified of spoiling a book for anyone who might be interested in reading it. Just the mention of characters can give away detail that may not come until later in the book. So, with that, I’m just going to highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mystery.
A story you won’t forget.
