Oddly enough, I was at an Inn while listening to The Retreat. I was looking over my shoulder every five minutes and couldn’t concentrate on anything other than this amazing story. Edwards is a new-to-me author, but I’m kicking myself for not finding his books sooner.
The Retreat is full of twists and turns and if you’re not constantly second guessing yourself, you’re reading it wrong. I thought I knew what happened, I was wrong. I made assumptions as to who was responsible, if anyone at all, and I was wrong about that as well. The chill factor and thorough story-telling made this a story I’ll never forget.
As a mother, I felt for Julia. The denial that must take hold of you once you’ve lost a child is likely indescribable, but if I were in her shoes, I’d have thought the same.
No body? No proof that she’s dead? Then she must be alive.
You’ll have to read The Retreat for yourself to see if Julia was your typical grief-stricken parent or if she’d been right all along.
This is an edge-of-your-seat kind of story, one that you will recommend time and time again.
The Retreat is also available for listen and read via Kindle Unlimited!
